  • 1961: Born in Saga, Japan.
  • 1983: Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, under the late Yuichi Omuro. 1st place at the 1st Japan Wind and Percussion Competition, category of Saxophone.
  • 1989: Appointed as concertmaster of the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra for over 22 years (until 2020).
  • 1994: Awarded the Muramatsu Prize and the Idemitsu Prize at the 51st Japan Music Competition, Wind Instrument Division.
  • 1996: Honored with the Hamamatsu Artist Award. His album Saxophone Concertos: Yoshimatsu, Glazunov, Debussy, Ibert (EMI Music), with the Philharmonia Orchestra, won the Artistic Achievement Award at the 54th Agency for Cultural Affairs (ACA) National Arts Festival in Japan.
  • 1999: Participates in the album Yoshimatsu: Saxophone Concerto, “Cyber-bird” & Symphony No. 3 (Chandos), with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Sachio Fujioka.
  • 2001: Performed the Nishimura’s Saxophone Concerto with the NHK Symphony Orchestra conducted by Charles Dutoit. His album A Homage To Marcel Mule (EMI Music), with the Trouvère Quartet, won the Grand Prize in the Record Division of the same agency’s Arts Festival.
  • 2002: Performed with the Württemberg Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Norichika Iimori. Recorded the main theme for the famous NHK’s TV show Sakura.
  • 2003: Recital at the Wiener Musikverein, Austria. Concert with the Aargau Symphony Orchestra in Switzerland.
  • 2004: 20th anniversary of his professional debut, performing a concert at Suntory Hall with the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra.
  • 2008: Participates in the album Gregson: Trumpet Concerto / Saxophone Concerto / Concerto for Piano and Wind (Chandos), with Ole Edvard Antonsen (trumpet), Nelson Goerner (piano), and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Clark Rundell.
  • 2009: Became “Yaramaika Ambassador” of Hamamatsu City. Released the album Virtuoso Concerto (Avex Marketing), with the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra conducted by Kazufumi Yamashita.
  • 2020: Released his last album, Bach Sequence, which won the Excellence Award at the 78th Agency for Cultural Affairs (ACA) National Arts Festival in Japan.
